Crucifers
Leading the processional and the Procession into the World by carrying the cross during worship services.
About this ministry
The crucifer carries the processional cross at the beginning of worship, leading the clergy and congregation into the sacred space.
At the close of the service, the crucifer leads the Procession into the World — a visible reminder that worship continues as we carry Christ's love into daily life.
The cross carried by the crucifer represents Christ leading his people. This ministry is open to adults and youth alike, and is a wonderful way to participate actively in the worship service.
Crucifers serve on a rotating schedule and receive brief training on the processional route, pace, and proper handling of the cross. It's a simple but deeply meaningful act of service.
